Kees van Ast

Kees van Ast (1951) worked in the period from 1976 until 1997 in a variety of roles for the Ministry of Agriculture, most recently as the Director of the Agricultural Research Department.

From 1997 until the summer of 2005, Kees held the position of the Vice-President of the Executive Board of Wageningen University and Research center. In that period he founded, in cooperation with PPM-Oost, the investment and participation department of the regional Development Company, the incubator-facility Biopartner in Wageningen. Kees also gave a boost at the valorization activities of WUR.

In the period 2005-2015 Kees has been appointed as Vice-President of the Executive Board of the University of Twente. In that period Kees was very active to promote the valorization activities of the University; he was the initiator of starting Twente Technology Fund and committed the University to several initiatives for startups.

Kees left his executive-position at the University on the 1st of October 2015 and started the CEO-position of Holding Technopolis Twente B.V and Van Ast Consultancy for (non)executive positions and advice.
